Senior Citizen of Matlosana Turns 100 Today, one of Matlosana’s senior citizens celebrated her 100th birthday. Marie Kotze, who resides in the Panorama Park Home for the Elderly, along with friends and family from far and near came to wish her on this very special day.
“Tannie Marie”, as she is known, was born in Botswana in 1910, after which her family moved to Bethlehem. She says that her highlight in life thus far was “…to live closely with God”. In her spare time, she reads between 4-6 books weekly, but “the large print ones”, she added jokingly. In her youth, “Tannie Marie” did many tapestries, including one of the Mona Lisa. One of her friends told us that when she was 60 years old, her health was not the best, and they were not even sure that she would make 65, never mind 100. They said that most of her aunts lived until about 105, and that she is trying to break that record. Sandy Botha, Divisional Head of Marketing for the City, along with Cllr. Johan le Grange, took her a card and a bunch of flowers to commemorate the day. |
