Hearts for Hunger Project

Meals on Wheels is a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO Reg. No: 002 - 707) who have been supporting the frail and less fortunate in our communities for the past 46 years with nutritious meals.

Countrywide we deliver ± 8 million meals on an annual basis and have extended our services into the K.O.S.H. area where the need of the underprivileged, frail, elderly and hungry school children have escalated to an alarming figure. 

In order to reach our target of 10 000 meals per month in the area we are in dire need of funds, donations, vehicles, goods, services etc.

As far as funds are concerned our HEARTS FOR HUNGER PROJECT is addressed to the public at large. We would like to show our community that our Council do lead by example. Therefore we would like to include every person who is employed by our Council to have the opportunity to partake in this project and thereby show that they have a “Heart for Hunger”.

We are now making heart brooches available to the public at R15 each.  To produce and deliver a warm, nutritionally balanced meal costs between R25 – R32 per plate. Thus every two employees who partake in this effort will personally be sponsoring one underprivileged person in our community with at least one meal per month.
